Ok, i've officially migrate my first IRM 1.4.X installation to glpi 0.5. As stated before i've setup a SQL script to migrate data, if needed i can contribute, or cleanup&comment a bit to be added to glpi docs/contrib... say me.
As we have discussed early, one of the big differences from IRM to glpi are in handling software: basically irm can install a software as itself, not only a particular licence, and can install more software then licence purchased... Anyway i feel a bit uncomfortable of some things about software... + ok, i can write ``free'' in licence key field and install as i like, but i think it is better to have a flag (unlimited install) or a specific number of licence (1,2,3,...999,unlimited, or more simply -1 to use a number), simply because: + i like to track free licence more granulary (GPL, BSD, ...) + there's some software that are free as in beer but not as in speech, consider the Acrobat Reader or MS Terminal Server client + can i have purchase a ``site licence'' (eg, M$ and Corel do that) that permit me to install unlimited, but this is not free software. ;) + (we have discuss about this, but i'll insist... ;) Migrating data i've see that if i add more computer to a single licence (manual insert into glpi_inst_license table) glpi works flawlessy, print the correct amount of licence and installation and display the licence in RED. So seems that adding more install than license it is not a ``design'' problem, but a deliberate choice of the interface. Please, please, please... enable this feature, via a ``warning page'', as IRM does if you like, but please do that!!! Also i've found a trouble: if i try to use the helpdesk.html page (apropos, my translated helpdesk-it.html why are not in tarball?), as if i click on ? or on ``envoyer'' i get the ``relogin'' page. Helpdesk user are on database. Many thanks, glpi 0.5 are very very cool. ;-))) -- dott.
