Joe, You are sure right, most of the time rings did not seat, was because of the wrong ring being used. Most of the cases of frozen rings, the end gap was not checked. Either of these items gave the chrome cylinders a bad reputation. There is some bad chrome jobs of course, but most of the time, the installer needed a scape goat, and blamed it on the chrome. Those part numbers have to be checked. I ordered a set of +.010 main bearings once, the box was marked +.010 but the bearing inside was standard.
