Dear Senator Lieberman, Thank you kindly for your response to my letter regarding the VFR flight restrictions imposed after the tragedy on September 11th. In your response to me you mention H.R. 2932 (the Safe Skies act) as well as your cognizance of how new regulations and restrictions might effect flight-dependent businesses. What I did not hear in your response was a firm commitment to help protect our freedom to fly. Regarding background checks for student pilots, I'd like to ask why flying should be singled out for this. It was a van which was used in the Kansas city bombing, and I don't notice similar concerns being raised for drivers' licenses. To my mind, this focus on flying is an emotional response to a horrible tragedy, but it does not consider the loss of liberty it represents. We are just about the only country in the world where general aviation is still feasible. With rising insurance costs, and now additional security restrictions, we run the risk of killing it. I think it's especially important for us in Connecticut, the home of Sikorsky and Pratt and Whitney, to remember the place that aviation holds in our economy and our history. I am cc'ing this to my aircraft owners' club as we are actively tracking legislative responses on this and related issues as one of our members is assembling a general aviation scorecard for legislators. I hope we can include you on the list of those supportive of GA. Thank you again for your response, Leslie Ann Holbrook 31 Spring Street Chester, CT 06412 _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?aVxiLm.aVzvvT Or send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================
