Hi Gaylon
I"m sure you'll get many more replies to your post, but firstly welcome
to the club, it's the coolest!
Secondly, I'm sure you're aware of the fact that it's not the CFI you
need to convince but your Examiner.
I stayed away from getting a coupe before I got my PP-ASEL for precisely
that reason - the Designated Flight Examiner
up here at VNY (I'm in the San Fernando Valley, CA) wouldn't test me in
a 2-axis plane, since the license he was giving would be good for all
ASELs, not just the coupe. Also, he mentioned something about the "added
versatility of the coupe landing gear" giving a colored experience to a
beginner - i.e. learn to land a Cessna or a Piper properly, the coupe
will be like putting training wheels back on a bike.
However, for the hours, especially the x-country solos and that, I'm
sure you'll be just fine.
JM2C, YMMV, etc.
HTH
Cheers
Chris
