Hi All: Our Young Eagles was held in pretty grim weather for first rides. It was pretty bumpy, windy, rainy, etc. I had trouble getting out of Spanaway. I encountered carb ice I couldn't completely clear during climb out. So I turned back & waited till it warmed a bit and so got there late. My pilot number was 25 and I wasn't at the end of the list by any means There were twins, helicopters, homebuilts, cubs, classics, and of course an Ercoupe. As each batch of kids had their paperwork handed to the dispatcher, there were a pack of pilots hovering like vultures to grab their kid or kids. I wound up flying only 2. By the time the second was done, it was already early afternoon, there were a myriad of pilots and planes, the wx wasn't improving so I departed. I had to put some wingtips on a Cherokee, a tail strobe on another, and need to feed my own Ercoupe. <G> Next year---we'll have good WX, I'll get there on time and fly a dozen kids.
