Managed to get around a dozen hours on 99621 prior to the nationals and was happy with her performance so was able to make my very first national last week. Came down from 49C and joined up Dennis, Don Mack and others, brought up the rear of that flight of six. In spite of the very hot days and hazy flying, had a very enjoyable time. I was fortunate to be able to buddy up with Bill Coons and Der Spiegel at the dorm. Sure glad I didn't have to open that little tent and rough it. The dorms refrigerator was well used to keep our favorite beverage cool and der Spiegel proved to be quite a vocalist with his late nite crooning. working hard at it I managed to drop around 10 lbs prior to the fly-in but all that great food that was served put 15lbs back on (or maybe it was that beverage) Those that didn't make it, you missed a lot.
