APOA NEWS UPDATE: MORE STATES REQUIRING CRIMINAL CHECKS, AOPA SAYS In what has become an alarming trend, New York recently became the seventh state to consider legislation requiring criminal background checks before an individual can receive flight instruction. They just started doing the job they were suppose to be doing in the first place. Let's face it, the people who were in charge of security have been "sleeping on the job".... and according to a report I just read this week, they still are letting weapons get by. And these tests didn't even try to hide the weapons. Even the laws and checks we have in place already are not being enforced.
