Hi all
I have quit flying, medical caused this. As there is no market in the UK
for Ercoupes/Aircoupes I shipped my Alon to Seattle in a container after
carrying out a complete and very extensive overhaul (which took one whole
year). Everything was done, engine out, stripped and rebuilt with lots of
new parts, new ring set, new ignition harness, new plugs, new seals, new
gaskets, new mounting rubbers, new hoses, etc.
Everything re-furbished, cabin, panels, floor rubbers, upholstery,
Royalite panels. New Strobe beacon, brakes relined and discs skimmed, new
bolts in undercarriage suspension, new landing light glasses, new tie down
rings, All wings and spars checked out, stainless screws fitted wherever
possible. New cowling side with oil filler flap, nose cowling fiberglass
repaired and re-sprayed. Propeller checked and re-painted, new prop bolts.
All wheels stripped of paint and re-painted.
Instrument panels removed, re-furbished and refitted, control horns powder
coated and fired in black finish, new fresh air hoses fitted.
The airplane has a radio fit which cost $7,000 consisting of all small
instruments, electric turn and bank, suction artificial horizon and
Directional Gyro run by suction pump. All the usual gauges, gene
overhauled, G-meter, Narco Mk12D with full ILS and intercom, King
Transponder. Panel mounted Apollo Flybuddy GPS. Engine flown just over
1,000 hours but now in tip top condition, cruise one up 115mph, two up and
full fuel 105mph. Baggage has large area and takes 90lbs, adjustable seats
(in flight), There is no doubt the A2A was the best of all the Aircoupes
produced with MTWA of 1,450lbs. At present the airplane is still on the UK
register which means that you can have a US registration to suit yourself
when purchased, it will be supplied with a fresh annual at date of
purchase and can be seen and flown at Pierce County Airport, near Puyallup
25 miles south of Seattle.
I will be in Puyallup in September. I have a disc of the photos taken
during the overhaul, just e-mail me with your home address and a disc will
be mailed to you same day. The airplane stands me at over $40,000 but, of
course, I will never re-coupe this expenditure and the year's effort to
bring this Alon up to its wonderful condition will be someone else's gain.
I am open to serious offers as I would like to conclude a sale before the
fall.
Alon A2A ~B253
