Sad thing is that virus protection has become topical since it is so much related to running a list like this. In any case, I have to stand squarely behind the Norton solution, both for home and for professional use. We had been using McAfee, and for years it had been the best and most robust solution. Then, about a year ago, all of our Win98 OSR2 machines became very flaky, with freeze ups of from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. When we swapped for Norton, those problems went away, and we have continued to have good luck with it. I had had difficulties with Norton in the past, but those seem to have been addressed, and now Norton Anti Virus is the clear winner. It catches everything and doesn't ballox up the machine.
