This is an example of a situation where a non-instrument rated pilot can log actual instrument time while legally flying in VFR conditions. Strange but true. Joa ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My CFI took me out over the Sound on a night just like that when I was training to make a point. Over land, it was OK.
