Hi All:
I have the K&S / KSA four probe EGT / CHT installed on my engine and
have found it to be the best thing since sliced bread.
With all four cylinders being instrumented I have found that the
right rear cylinder is not always the leanest. It depends on altitude,
throttle opening, RPM, etc.
I definitely agree with Ed that if you want to do a proper job of
leaning for maximum endurance that you need to be looking at all four
cylinders!
I can consistently run my O-200 at just over 4 gph by closing the
throttle plate just the slightest bit to give better fuel / air
distribution to each cylinder and flying at higher altitudes.

with some degree of
accuracy to make it work right.

permitting, I'd recommend getting the
four-cylinder gauge. We put the probe on the right-rear cylinder but we
had no proof that was the hottest
cylinder.
Personally, I think that a low-accuracy gauge is why some people have
trouble with mixture control.
