advice in this forum.]----

Hi there 'Coupers,

Well, my birdie sailed through her annual with, well, flying colors.

My AP mentioned something which I thought I'd pass along. I'm sure this
is
not news to most of you, but I thought I'd share it for the less
mechanically savvy among us.

As I've mention previously, this is the first year I've had to run mostly
100LL in my baby, since until recently we've had 80 on the field. So I've

been watching carefully for any signs of lead build up. So far, so good.

My AP mentioned to me that if I really wanted to be careful about the lead

building up, frequent oil changes would really help. Now, I know about
the
fuel additives, but this was the first that it dawned on me about the oil
--
oh, DUH. In any event, my AP recommends changing the oil every 20 hours
(I
had been doing it every 25, so I'm not far off) to avoid valve problems.
He
says that he's also seen improvements in the plugs as well when this is
done; he's not sure why, except that perhaps if there's just a little oil
on
the plugs and it burns off, it would leave the lead behind.

So, I will be following that advice. I'm proud to report that I even know

how to change my own oil now. Baby steps for you folks, I know, but five
years ago I wouldn't have know what a carb was if you'd hit me in the head

with it, so it's big progress for me!
