Using the suggestion of two weeks ago about getting aircraft records from
the FAA, I checked into the web site http://diy.dot.gov and followed the
prompts to order a set of aircraft records for N99997. Note that they now
will provide them on CD for $5.00. I received my CD rom today and it
includes a copy of Adobe Acrobat reader and the files in two groups. One
file group is registration and the other group is technical matters (337's
etc.). The nice thing about it is that the microfiche copies that I
previously received could be read only in one reader in a library that was
56 miles away and they charged 0.25 cents a page. My records consist of
over 300 pages so a CD that I can read and print out from the computer is
a great savings. Perhaps the best buy in Aviation today. As a side note,
the CD has a nice label with the N number and date and time recorded.
Sort of glad now that my daughter threw the old microfiche copies away in
error.
