  To all.
A week or so ago several warbird type flyers came to our field at
Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. There were two Navions from the
Fraser Blues precision flying team, a Chipmunk trainer, a Yak, a T-28
Trojan, and a huge Avenger. Most were from the U.S. and some from
Canada. They visited Comox Air Force base to see the Spitfire project
that's being worked on there, and went to Port Alberni to see the two
huge Martin Mars water bombers on Sproat Lake. These are the worlds
largest flying boats. On the third day of their visit, they were all
hanging around Roger Yorks T-28 outside his hanger as I taxied out for a
short flight. As some of you may know, my coupe is done in W.W.II
camouflage in the style of a Spitfire. As I taxied by, all the heavy
iron pilots watched me pass. After flying around for a short time, I
thought I'd do a low and over to let them see a real warbird in action.
I called final and swooped in at screaming 120 M.P.H. . As I approached
I could see the pilots on the ground running around and forming into a
line. Mystified by what they were doing, I continued straight down the
runway at twenty feet off the blacktop. Just as I performed my death
defying pull up, I glanced over at the line of pilots in front of the
T-28. There were six white bare behinds gleaming in the sun. The glare
temporarily blinded me. Thank God for dark glasses. The coupe climbed
damatically up into the blue,[about 400 feet] and levelled off. I
turned down wind and set up for landing. I realised I had just been
given the highest honour they could bestow on me. It was truely a great
salute, and showed there best side. After landing I taxied in and they
all swarmed around the coupe and examined it with interest. They were a
great bunch. Now that I have been officially accepted into the warbird
clan, I walk with a slight swagger that was formerly called a limp.

You too can see FLAK MAGNET on the web site that lists coupes
by "N" numbers [or in my case, "C" numbers] Look for C-FBMJ {Dark
glasses recommended}
