HI Nick; Welcome to the world of Coupes. The original baggage compartment
was installed between frame C and frame D. It had two flat, long (about 3
feet), aluminum strips, about 1 inch wide and 1/16th inch thick, which
were placed in the long pockets at the top, front and rear. There were two
short (about 10 inches) aluminum angles that went in the short pockets at
the top, on each side.
One of the long aluminum strips, encased in the baggage compartment
pocket, was placed flat between the hat shelf and the brace that went
across the top at frame D. The other long strip, also encased the same
way, fastened to the top of the seat frame, under the seat upholstery. The
two short angles fastened at either end on the top of the seat frame,
after they were put through the short pockets, in the front, and on the
top of the brace across frame D in the rear. This caused the baggage
compartment to hang between the two frames, with the zipper in the bottom.
Some Coupes had small aluminum plates that filled in the area between the
small angles on the sides of the baggage compartment and the side of the
fuselage. All Coupes came with a baggage compartment cover that was held
in place with four or five snaps, front and rear. These snap receptacles
were fastened to the top of the seat frame and on top of the front edge of
the hat shelf.
      Clear as mud?
