Wayne,

I bought an automobile sun shade from Wal-mart, the kind that fold up
flat.
It works pretty good with the silver side up. I hold up the back part
with
the map lights, and I have some Velcro glued to the front frame of the
sliding part of the canopy, with corresponding Velcro sewn onto the sun
shade. I think I used the "large car" size shade, but measure to be sure.
I recently improved the reflectiveness of the sun shade by gluing on some
emergency blanket stuff. You can buy a camper's emergency blanket of very
light aluminum foil like stuff for about $2-3. It comes in a little pack
about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It is kind of flimsy but it
really
blocks the heat. When I slide the canopy back the sunshade slides back
with
it.

The sunshade comes two to a pack, one for each side of the car's
windshield.
I have one with the additional reflective stuff, and one without. I carry
both in the plane because they fold up flat and are held in place together
with a piece of elastic. It's pretty hand. When I get to fly-ins I lay
one
shade on the glare shield to reflect heat away from the instruments and
leave the other in place in the top of the canopy.

Good luck. If you have any questions I'll be glad to try and help.

I Know some of you will tell me that canopy's are those little
sandwiches without crusts that people serve you at parties.

I have an Alon with a small amount of overhead solar protection provided
by the super dense limousine glass coating. It took me two days to get
that stuff on the inside of the canopy with all the bubbles out.

I have noticed in pictures that some Alons have the inside of the canopy
either painted or covered with some sort of sun block. I would like to
put something on the overhead to keep some sun out, but I need to be
able to remove it if necessary.

Anybody got any ideas?

Wayne
