Boy, that subject kinda sounds n asty. I digress, on to the point...

I looked through several posts about "fla shing" a generator that's been
sitting for a while. A few questions (please only answer if you know
what you're talking about- I'm already confused enough :-)

1. Should you flash the field when the engine is running or not and if
so about how many RPMs?

2. Where exactly is the field terminal on the generator and how do you
identify it?

3. Should you touch a wire directly off the battery or off the
positive lead on the regulator or does it make a difference? How big of
wire
should you use?

4. About how long should you touch the wire (seconds) and what should
you be looking for (a spike on the ammeter, sparks, hair standing on
end, etc)?

5. How exactly do you know if your generator is charging correctly if
your battery is already charged up prior to doing all this? If you
turn on all your accessories (lights, strobes, radio, etc) should the
ammeter be showing a discharge or a charge?

Thanks. These electron thingys confuse me :)

Stan
