Boy, that subject kinda sounds n asty. I digress, on to the point... I looked through several posts about "fla shing" a generator that's been sitting for a while. A few questions (please only answer if you know what you're talking about- I'm already confused enough :-) 1. Should you flash the field when the engine is running or not and if so about how many RPMs? 2. Where exactly is the field terminal on the generator and how do you identify it? 3. Should you touch a wire directly off the battery or off the positive lead on the regulator or does it make a difference? How big of wire should you use? 4. About how long should you touch the wire (seconds) and what should you be looking for (a spike on the ammeter, sparks, hair standing on end, etc)? 5. How exactly do you know if your generator is charging correctly if your battery is already charged up prior to doing all this? If you turn on all your accessories (lights, strobes, radio, etc) should the ammeter be showing a discharge or a charge? Thanks. These electron thingys confuse me :) Stan _____ Do you Yahoo!?
