After reading the post my first thought was ,wonder what that air filter looks like??? This summer I replaced the filter on my Ercoupe ,I was amazed at the build up of Bugs and dirt oil mix that was removed from that small filter. It sure seems that if the engine runs better with carb heat on <no filter on that side of system> there's something wrong on the front side. Just a thought.
