Bob, I have a forney and it was delivered with springs, not donuts. I assume alons were the same way. I put the spacer in (as provided in the kit from Skyport) and it worked perfectly. Its a bit hard to get access to tighten the allen screw but perseverence pays off. I does sound like whoever replaced the donuts on your Alon may not have know what they were doing. Something doesn't sound right there.
