Hello all,
Sorry to say that this is not about an Ercoupe.
Just prior to my husband purchasing our Ercoupe he bought a BD4 from back
east and paid the seller to trailer it to British Columbia. Plane was
supposed to "only need 10 days or 2 weeks work" and it would be ready to
fly.
.......... NOT .........
Ron was so eager to get back in the air that he could not wait until he
could get a seat ticket and go back to look at the 'beauty'
Well, the skin on the wings did not look very good, so that went, and
then, being the perfectionist that he was (luckily) he decided he would
prefer metal ribs Ron always preferred metal and was highly suspicious of
fibreglass, and he was proved right in this case.
When the ribs were taken off, one spar had corrosion due to improper seal
around gas tank. (The other spar is just fine)
So I am left with a BD4, (airframe serial # 587) (presently a tail
dragger, wheels on frame)
with a Lycoming O-290 DOC engine,
Propeller.....SENSENICH spec # type cert
886 hub ser. # 24971 (pitch 51, dia 74)
One good spar (and Ron's ideas of how to do
the wings, with a different shaped rib)
seats, spinner, wheel pants (and maybe some
other things, I do not really know)
Also have a custom built plane trailer for the same.
It would be great if any of you knew someone who was looking for a project
plane, and who might be interested in a BD4
Also, any ideas of what would be a reasonable asking price would be
greatly appreciated. I know full well that it will be around 1/3 or less
what he paid for it. Would like to sell ALL in one lot, but again would
appreciate advice re selling engine separately etc.
Thank you
Ann Standing
