Syd, Can't he file a protest with e-bay? I'd say that a seller who is selling a plane, even as salvage, that's stripped out like that and who DOESN'T clearly state the condition is committing fraud. E-bay should not allow a potential buyer to get stuck like that. If they won't return his deposit, let us know and I, for one, will let E-bay know they are on my banned list for five years. (If Larry overlooked clear warnings, then I withdraw my outrage.) My friend Larry Markey, here in Wausau, who won the bid asked lots of questions of me, my mechanic, other Ercoupers like Dennis Spiegel (who is also a friend) and an Arizona mechanic he hired to look the plane over, he decided not to buy it after all. He lost his 10% deposit, but that's all he lost. He found out that the plane is completely gutted inside. Everything is out from the firewall to the tip of the tailcone. We figured that it would take a huge amount of time and money to bring it up to flying condition, so he dropped it. It was a very long way to go for a project. Dennis told us about Paul Tanzer's E model, N94821, that is for sale at Schaumberg Airport in IL. Larry contacted Paul and was impressed. So tomorrow I'm driving Larry's Porsche (!) from Wausau to Schaumberg, will get the key from Paul, fly the plane up here to Wausau so my mechanic can do a pre-purchase evaluation of it, and will fly it back if a week or so. The weather has been quite bad here for about a week, but looks great for tomorrow. So Greg, even though Fred's spirit can't help us with the Deer Valley Coupe, it looks like he is helping with Paul's Coupe. I'll keep you posted on the events here. Oh, what happened to the Deer Valley Coupe? I guess the seller contacted the next highest bidders. I hope they don't have to haul it very far.
