I have to comment on putting a hand on the wing to kill lift during a BFR. Been there done that. <G> Every year I fly over to Lewiston Idaho to fly wings with a friend who is a CFI. Jim tries to present me with a few challenges each year. Last year he took me over to Orifino Idaho, a place I had never landed at. The field is at the bottom of a deep narrow valley and right along the river. The approach has to be a tear drop affair since there's no room for a regular downwind-base-final affair. It wasn't a place I wanted to land short at so I came in with a bit of extra altitude just in case the fan should quit. Jim commented that "we're not going to make it--I you need to put it down on the numbers" I made the infamous statement "Watch me". I put my hand on the wing root killed my extra altitude and did indeed put it on the numbers. My CFI's comment---"Good Job--you really know your airplane" So the next time you take a BFR go ahead and be daring.<G> Cheers: Paul NC2273H ========================================================================== ==== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm
