Executive summary is:

+ vdsm needs (wants) glusterfs-3.7.x packages for el-based
distributions, and for Fedora secondary architectures like ppc64.

+ Furthermore they would also like to have packages for RHEL ppc64le.

Presumably because they would like to provide vdsm for all these
platforms, and they have a dependency on glusterfs.

Given the constraints we have:

+ EPEL policy about not having packages that are shipped by RHEL

+ Fedora Koji rules about not using third party repositories for
dependencies.

+ Gluster community decision about which versions of glusterfs ship in
particular versions of Fedora.

And so on.

Anyone have any outside-the-box ideas for how we might be more accomodating?

Hi,

for vdsm 3.6 we need gluster from 3.7 versions. in this link I could
find only 3.6 version. Is there glusterfs for el7 of 3.7 version?
Would be glusterfs build for ppc64le (little endian) also?

Thanks

When we build GlusterFS using fedora koji, we build it for ppc/ppc64
arches against el{5,6,7} targets.

You can see those rpms here:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=9391406
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=9391340
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=9391344

However we dont push these rpms to download.gluster.org as GlusterFS is
not supported on ppc arch.
