I would like to suggest that the AFR translator have a
feature added to it allowing one to specify the
minimum required numbers of subvolumes to which every
write action must succeed on in order for the
translator to report a success.
So, for example in the AFR config an option such as :
volume afr
type cluster/afr
subvolumes one two three
option minimum.writes 2
end-volume
would ensure that at least two of the nodes get every
write update.
