What distro ? What kernel version ? Hardware specs ?

Debian Lenny, 64 bit, 2.6.26 kernel.
The specs are "more or less" high end.

I see there is a bug entry describing a similar issue:

http://bugs.gluster.com/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=902

but I don't use any NFS/translators here, so not sure if it's the same
or not.

The bug also points to a different bug in io-cache, which I also use -
so I'll try to disable it and see if it changes anything.

Unfortunately, it still hangs, even if I comment out the io-cache
section from my gluster client configuration.

Any hints on how to debug this would be appreciated.

Is it just IOZone that creates undesirable operating conditions, or have
you tried other testing tools as well ?

I've seen some curious "hangs" once a month or so with glusterfs 2.x and "normal" system usage - but I didn't have a way to reproduce it (I didn't try iozone, though).

I upgraded to glusterfs 3.0.4 and hoped it will cure my hangs, then thought it's a good idea to test it with iozone... And hence the hangs.

So no, other than iozone, I don't have any other way to reproduce it.
