Hello gluster-users:

System:
glusterfs 3.2.5 from source
Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS / i686 in a Vbox VM
2.6.32-38-generic kernel.

mounting with either
"mount -t /usr/local/etc/glusterfs/glusterd.vol /mnt/directory" or
"mount -t glusterfs IPA.DDR.ESS:/cloud_c9 /mnt/directory"
doesn't error out UNTIL I start poking around which usually ends with
"Transport endpoint is not connected"

mount shows:
/usr/local/etc/glusterfs/glusterd.vol on /mnt/cloud_c9 type fuse.glusterfs (rw,allow_other,default_permissions,max_read=131072)

or
IPA.DDR.ESS:/cloud_c9 on /mnt/cloud_c9 type fuse.glusterfs (rw,allow_other,default_permissions,max_read=131072)

I usually do a df -h here and verify the remote filesystem, but that
fails with "Transport endpoint is not connected"

On the server, I can see
Hostname: c9kicksass <-- (this is "new" since trying out the client)
Uuid: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
State: Establishing Connection (Disconnected)

Tired of all that, I ran a mount -o log-file option
and that output is
[2012-02-28 15:29:32.80047] I [glusterfsd.c:1493:main] 0-/usr/local/sbin/glusterfs: Started running /usr/local/sbin/glusterfs version 3.2.5 [2012-02-28 15:29:53.126777] E [socket.c:1685:socket_connect_finish] 0-glusterfs: connection to failed (Connection timed out) [2012-02-28 15:29:53.127591] E [glusterfsd-mgmt.c:740:mgmt_rpc_notify] 0-glusterfsd-mgmt: failed to connect with remote-host: Transport endpoint is not connected [2012-02-28 15:29:53.128910] W [glusterfsd.c:727:cleanup_and_exit] (-->/usr/local/lib/libgfrpc.so.0(rpc_transport_notify+0x3c) [0xdbddcc] (-->/usr/local/lib/libgfrpc.so.0(rpc_clnt_notify+0xc8) [0xdc3b88] (-->/usr/local/sbin/glusterfs() [0x804f920]))) 0-: received signum (1), shutting down [2012-02-28 15:29:53.129148] I [fuse-bridge.c:3727:fini] 0-fuse: Unmounting '/mnt/cloud_c9'.

I checked the following sites briefly:
http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glustermc/1.0/Documentation/User_Guide/html/index.html
http://gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Client_Installation_and_Configuration
http://gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.2_Native_Client_Guide

but I tend to speed-read through stuff, so I may have missed the obvious.

Thank you for your time.
