Are you using an email program that runs on your computer? I use Gmail's web interface and I don't have a "bin/trash". On the web interface, I think the only way a message ends up in Trash, is if you put it there, or if you have a Filter that puts it there. > Are duplicate mails automatically sent to trash even if they're all to > different recipients? Emails sent to different recipients are not considered duplicates. If messages are actual duplicates, Gmail eliminates the extras, not by moving them to your Trash folder but by making them totally disappear. You never see them. > Is it likely the mails have been received? ... If you actually sent them (as opposed to hitting a Delete button by accident), I would think so. > (Some obviously were, because I > got a few replies, two of which appear both in my sent mail folder and my > bin/trash). They "appear" in your Sent Mail folder because they are part of the same conversation with the messages you sent. If you separated them (by turning conversation view off), you would find that the replies are not actually in Sent Mail. For what it's worth.
