Gmail has discontinued their ActiveSync product for Gmail. It continues to work for any existing connections (phones) you already had setup, but you are unable to setup any new devices. I think they are pushing people to use open standard protocols. That would be IMAP for mail, CalDAV for calendar, and CardDAV for contacts.
