- Update your Gmail account recovery options. https://support.google.com/mail/answer/185710?hl=en - Make sure your PC has adequate anti-virus protection. MS Security Essentials is free. http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/pc-security/mse.aspx - Change your password every so often. This always depends on where and how you access Gmail. If you are using shared computers often eg. Internet Cafe then you should do this regularly.
