The point of the Gmail reply window is that you can still see the whole conversation, including your own actual messages. Gmail's selling point from the beginning was the unique Conversation View. One cannot see an entire conversation (thread) in the Outlook.com reply window, one can only see what's been included in the message that one is replying to. The new compose window can be minimised, and now also has the 'full screen' option. It can also be 'popped out' and back in again. Outlook.com only offers the 'pop out' option. Outlook? Haha, that was always a p.o.s and still is a p.o.s. I know because I support users of it, and Office365. I can't tell you how often I have to 'repair' the software and/or offline mailboxes (OST).
