I was surprised that the old compose suddenly vanished. For me, it was today. I even checked the Official Gmail Blog to see if I had missed an announcement. We had had such a long time to try the new, which I did several times. However, I always went back to the old because I didn't see any major advantages to the new. Because I had tried both, this apparently permanent transition will not be painful.
