When I print an email from Gmail's web interface, I get a menu with choices
on the left. One of those choices is between Portrait and Landscape.

I can't help you with the font size. Way back, some Gmail users had
problems with very tiny fonts when printed, which Gmail eventually ironed
out.

You can try bypassing Gmail's print handler by pressing Ctrl-Shift-P ... or
by clicking on the "Print using system dialog" near the bottom of the print
page tab. Maybe by using the normal system dialog (your operating system's
normal print dialog pop-up), you may get different results.

There are so many printers out there, the problem you are having might be
unique to your printer and OS.

Andy
