Hi! Have a little challenge I am trying to sort out, and I'm hoping someone can help me.
I'm now in charge of managing some email settings on a hosted server for a social group. Currently, we have a mail alias/redirect set up on our mail host which redirects email sent to "[email protected]" to each of the external email addresses of our members. Because we don't want every member to have the ability to email ALL of the other members, that alias address isn't really advertised and we always take care to use the bcc field to hide it. We've recently noticed, however, that if one of our admins bcc's that alias using the gmail interface, the alias email address is visible in the bcc field when a recipient who is also using the gmail interface looks at the header details. This behavior is different than when the email is sent using a client like Outlook, where the bcc field is not visible at all, even if the recipient is using the gmail interface. Ideally we would be able to allow each of our admins to use their own preferred method of sending email but not have the email alias address visible in the bcc field, ever. Reading through the gmail docs, I understand that this behavior is probably by design, so I'm not here complaining about it, I just could use some suggestions short of buying a group mailing service that might allow us to achieve our aims. Any ideas? Thanks, m -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Gmail-Users" group.
