When I use gmail.com from an Android mobile phone (through the browser, NOT
the gmail application) and I compose a new message, there's no option to
attach a file, as there is when you access gmail.com from a computer.
Can anybody explain why on earth such a basic feature is missing? Do Google
developers really think one never needs to attach a file to an email when
writing from a mobile phone?!?!?!?
Is there a setting somewhere to make this option available? Is it just
hidden by default for some reason?

Or is it failing to properly detect that the device actually _is_ capable
of uploading a file?

The same happens with Google Drive. When accessing it from a mobile phone,
the mobile-friendly simplified interface doesn't have an option to upload a
new document.

Or is this some kind of way to "encourage" users to install and use the
native apps?
