My hosting provider told me I had to change the MX records which I did. I found the following document on this, deleted existing MX records as the Google tutorial stated, and used the following.
Priority Mail Server 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 10 ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 10 ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
