But I went through the motions, and indeed, it appears that Gmail now ALWAYS puts ALL of the message you're replying to behind the ellipsis, hidden. To be honest I did not think that it always did that (when did that start?). So apparently I am just in the habit of always clicking the ellipsis to open the text I am replying to -- who wouldn't? -- so I immediately disable the garbage (ellipsis) that Google puts there. It is habit. As for where I type my reply text, I am sure to get some heat about it, but IMHO the only place that reply text should go, is AFTER the thing that one is replying to. That's because I am a human. We humans usually answer questions after someone asks them, not before. If I were an alien, I suppose it might be otherwise, but I am not. As a reader of English, I read text from left to right, top to bottom. There used to be a lab that one could enable that would start the > reply below any text highlighted but that's gone now and I don't see > any other way to do it. I missed that lab. Does anyone else loathe top-posting? > Yes. And the ginormous replies that it causes, as the sheeple continue to forward text they didn't know was there, from a dozen replies earlier. It's a bad habit to force us into. Regards, Andy -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Gmail-Users" group.
