Hi David, You can try to use the current version of Gmarks and see if it works in Firefox 3.1 by doing the following. I have often done this with unupdated extensions with great success. It does, however, require a bit of technical knowledge that I hope you have. Before doing it, read it through and be sure you know how to do each step:
1. Download gmarks-0.9.9-fx.xpi<https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/27831/gmarks-0.9.9-fx.xpi> . 2. Rename it to gmarks-0.9.9-fx.zip - it is actually a zip file. Note that this cannot be done in Windows with the default settings. See http://www.mediacollege.com/microsoft/windows/extension-change.html if you need instructions. 3. Unpack the files in the zip file to a folder. 4. In the unpacked folder, open the file install.rdf in a text editor. 5. In the line containing em:maxVersion="3.0pre", change "3.0pre" to "3.1". 6. Save the file. 7. Pack the unpacked folder again into a zip file. 8. Rename the new zip file to gmarks-0.9.9-fx-3.1.xpi or whatever ending in ".xpi". Note that this also cannot be done in Windows with the default settings. 9. Drag the new .xpi file to the Firefox window. 10. Follow the installation instructions. Note, however, that there is no guarantee whatsoever that the extension works in 3.1! It is your own responsibility to test it and take any consequences. My little trick just allows the 3.0 version to be installed in Firefox 3.1.
