I ran the 6 tests that failed on houndstooth (the Ubuntu test machine) in my dev machine, which is also an Ubuntu machine. ("eagleswing", in case you were wondering about its name...) Short story: on the Ubuntu dev machine, the results match the Red Hat results. I think Linux is good to go into the next step (packaging for release).

(I don't get the issue for MATLAB_IO_String on houndstooth. Wendy -- didn't you have something similar on Mac for a while?)
