On Linux things seem okay (one data point only):
GMAT: Total Run Time: 115.846 seconds
GmatConsole: Total Run Time: 114.713 seconds
Maybe some Windows process (upgrade prep, virus scan, general flak from
Redmond) kicked off in the background during the console run?

Why is GmatConsole so much slower than GMAT.exe (at least on PC)? For
GroundStation_Iono_XEast, if I run the following:
GmatConsole.exe --run
"G:\GMAT\Testing\jazz-repo\test\script\input\Resources\FRR-15_GroundStation\scripts\GroundStation_Iono_XEast.script"
The script takes about 240 seconds to complete. If instead I run:
Gmat.exe --run
"G:\GMAT\Testing\jazz-repo\test\script\input\Resources\FRR-15_GroundStation\scripts\GroundStation_Iono_XEast.script"
The GUI pops up, loads the script, runs it, and finishes in about 50
seconds.

I ran GroundStation_Iono_XEast 10 times on my machine and didn’t get
any failures. I also don’t recall seeing this occur in Darrel’s runs.
Has anyone seen it fail on a machine other than the test machine? I’m
running Matlab R2018b – what version is the test machine running? Is
the test machine a VM or physical?

3 of the failures involve diff_gmd_files.m. This routine opens up two
files and creates its own file. I added pause(2) to the beginning and
end of the routine. (Make sure read in files are fully created before
read. Make sure written file is fully closed before test system read)
Let’s see how that works in the following days. I may do similar
actions for some of the other matlab functions.
I don’t think this will add much time to the overall run time as these
routines are not called that often.
These are not the only type of matlab failure. Sometimes matlab
doesn’t open. (How do you make matlab try more times?)
If you have ideas, send them out.
