Integration of the event function, part 2. This part is turns on error control
for the event function integration. As a side effect, error control for mass
flow and the STM are now also activated; that code (lines 2471-2488) was
commented out in earlier versions, but the reason to disable it is not in the
code. If tonight's tests show an undesired side effect, I'll disable it again.
And sigh loudly.
