        I'm passing your message on to the gmerlin list.

        Burkhard will probably have more direct answers to your questions.  

        To me, it sounds like you installed gavl from an old package and then
        tried to install gmerlin_avdecoder from cvs.   As I explained on the
        PD list already, this will probably cause problems.

        The immediate solution that I'd suggest is to just install both gavl
        and gmerlin_avdecoder from CVS.
