dang. this is the second time this has happened to me. There are just too many small exceptions when dealing with these complex software systems. What happened was, I install cinelerra-cv from source and for some reason, the install script puts the ffmpeg include files under /usr/local/include. the gmerlin_avedec configure script saw those first.
