I am not sure but I think that if you define physical surfaces only then only the surface elements will appear in the mesh file.

However, when I attempt to do this via constructing a cube from points and lines and then surfaces and then generating a mesh. However, the resulting mesh seems to have a lot of line and point type elements. Is there a way to restrict it to triangular elements only?
