Hi Dean, Indeed, good 3D is currently a problem. In the lab, we still go with CRTs as they are very reliable, though old-fashioned and not any more supported. Apparently one can do similar things with recent LCD displays and a new technology by Nvidia, but I think this is Windows-only for now. See a recent discussion here: [1]. I haven't tested this for myself.
Then there are auto-stereo LCD displays, which can be quite expensive and depending on the model they require modifications to software, which is not what you want, I guess. There are also nice stereo-projectors now, but they cost loads of money (eg ~20 kEuro; although one can build a setup oneself for much cheaper.. but then the calibration may get you some gray hair). My personal favorite solution is using side-by-side stereo on a large screen (eg 30") and then force your eyes to adjust. This is the best quality stereo I have seen so far and doesn't cost anything. It does however strain the eyes a bit, and well, at the moment I'm the only one in the lab managing to do it :)) A brief description of our local setup can be found at [2] under the showrooms heading. A photomontage is at [3]. I hope that helps, Cheers, Marc [1] http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg06864.html [2] http://www.baaden.ibpc.fr/projects/fvnano/ [3] http://www.baaden.ibpc.fr/pub/fvnano/fvnshowroomlbt.png [email protected] said: >> Dear list, >> I know this might be a bit off topic.
