I think this is a good patch. Don't worry about the merging fallout with
my local tree, I'm happy to deal with it for a good cause. ;) I like the
new interface much better.

I'm also in favour of dropping libmad code.

Yes, I overlooked Sound. Three users would need updating: Sound,
NetStream and sound_handler.

I belive bastiaan is exactly workin there, plus in sound_handler.
That's why I think he'd have conflicts by changing things.

I've no intention of doing anything at all until Bastiaan
responds :) ...

My patch already does this for everything but gst and mad.

Which is 50% (mad is deprecated, gst has to be redone).

... except removing inactive libmad code completely.
