Whoops! Let me clarify. Sorry, I used the wrong term. By "forego", I meant testing exclusively on Gnash with the XO as opposed to testing with the Adobe plugin too. The Adobe Flash is the standard by which Flash content should abide with, and what we're hoping to do here is to attract additional Flash developers & content creators to target the XO. If Flash 7 & 8 content authored by Flash content developers are going to perform in unexpected ways in Gnash (bugs), it's going to frustrate and turn off regular Flash developers. Because of the difficulty of switching constantly between Flash & Gnash browser plugins, I've currently installed Flash 10 RC plugin instead on the XO dev unit with me (will upgrade it to Flash 10 final when it comes out) and will test browser content against it, and have decided to test for Gnash compatibility on the standalone Gnash that runs outside the browser. For browser content, I'll be testing Gnash with a Fedora 9 VM on my desktop (Latest Sugar-XO OS is based on Fedora 9). Hope to contribute to Gnash by helping to test for bugs and providing Flash developer feedback!
