This turned out to be a great idea. Well, at least for me, as I'm loving it :) It's now committed to trunk, but not yet ready for general use. In particular, it currently takes an environment variable set at time of browser startup and isn't really easy to figure which script belongs with which movie. Now, to turn it into a more generally usable thing, what would you think about adding the "create launcher" support in the standalone gnash itself ? Doing so we'd let us control creation of it trough the gui, so that we may have a "File->SaveLauncherAs". Command line should be all available, and eventually the relevant env variables might also be extracted. Even a more crazy but more exciting scenario would be for a drag&drop. You drag the movie you're watching on the desktop and you obtain a launcher for that application. Wouldn't it be nice ? I'm just saying because I actually found a few uses of it. Probably won't work much for youtube as it uses expiring URIs, but there are surely lots of cases in which the script will just keep working ! I attach the launcher script I just put on my desktop panel, to give you an idea... --strk;
