Essentially, it boils down to this: I can neither view nor listen to any .swf
file on my AMD-64 machine.
This particular machine has just finished crashing so badly that I had to
reinstall the entire OS from scratch, including GNASH.
So what have I installed? I have installed DEbian's packages for 0,8,4-2 as
follows:
GNASH-COMMON-OPENGL
GNASH-OPENGL
GNASH-TOOLS
KONQUEROR-PLUGIN-GNASH
MOZILLA-PLUGIN-GNASH
Those packages seem to cover the need.
I also bought a new AMD-64 notebook machine recently. Same treatment; same
results.
BTW, I first tried a few youtube videos, then news feeds from NPR, which is
audio only. Np results on anything.
