Thanks strk, I tried setting gnash 0.8.7 from 10,1,999, 0 to 9, 0, 114, 0 and some back corners of youtube still came in SWF10, AVM2 but the front page is SWF9, AVM1! I am not sure whether it is trying to play the video or not. It has the widgets along the bottom but doesn't seem to be buffering--could be not enough bandwidth available on my link right now.
