I'm new to gnash. Trying to get it working in any fashion.
Ultimately as a firefox plugin would be nice... but one step at a time.
I have installed gnash via FreeBSD ports.
Gnash runs on freeBSD, and I've heard the plugin works too. The
tarball for the BSD Ports is a bit out of date I believe, and it was
just a CVS snapshot anyway, so I'd suggest trying to build Gnash from
current CVS instead.
The distfile pulled down via ports built a gnasch-0.7 (the manpage is
from Dec'05). I pulled down the source via cvs... and the readme says
its v0.7 April 2006. So I'm assuming I'm not too far off. Either way I
haven't built it yet. After reading the docs, I wonder if this is what
I'm looking for.
I'm hoping to find a functional shockwave/flash player. The readme says
sound is not supported. One (the only?) reason I need flash is so my
kids can play some internet games (playhousedisney, etc). Without
sound... the games are a bit bland. I was hoping for a plugin as
well... though not mandatory. If I need to pull down the files manually
and build a library of games to play, I can do that.
Either way, I'll give it a shot and see what I can see.
Thanks for the response.
